I like this 5k. Last year, the organizers were late getting the word out, but they didn’t snooze this year.
The race starts down by the Vinoy in downtown St Pete, and heads south onto the Indycar circuit. The runners get to do a lap around the track and then do the return leg back to the Vinoy. The Indycar lap is only 1.8 miles (that’s small when it comes to open wheel street courses), but the trip to and from the Vinoy makes it a whole 5k. The surface is smooth, you do a stretch down pitlane, and race campers cheer you along. I think it’s the beer that makes them so enthusiastic.
